Florida Legislation Could Provide Windstorm Insurance Relief to Panhandle

In a special Legislative session called by newly elected Governor Crist,
Florida lawmakers addressed ways to reduce the upward spiraling cost of
windstorm insurance. In one week, a bill has been approved by both the
House and Senate to provide relief for the citizens of Florida. One
major part of the legislation was to completely remove the FL Panhandle
exemption.

NEW ORLEANS -- Nearly all insurance companies in Louisiana have agreed to give homeowners more time to settle claims from hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the state's top insurance official said Monday."
